200 jobs are now easier to obtain in Poland
Before the summer, it will be easier for Polish employers to hire a foreigner in nearly 200 professions. What does this mean for aspiring expats?
The Polish Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social Policy is developing new rules for the employment of foreign workers in Poland. The task at hand is to present a list of professions that will be exempt from the requirement of conducting a labour market test in Poland. The new rule will affect potential employees from all over the world, and not just in the most labour-intensive industries, such as construction, but also nurses, doctors, and engineers.
What exactly is a labour market test?
The new procedure will reduce the time required for formalities, but experts warn that more work is needed to eliminate additional complications. Even if Polish employers are not required to demonstrate that there are no unemployed people in Poland willing to do the jobs, they may still be required to obtain a work permit for their foreign workforce. According to reports, the process of obtaining one is becoming increasingly difficult. Due to overcrowding in local job centres, some employees are now waiting up to six months for their permit to work in Poland. Nonetheless, reducing the amount of paperwork in the 200 jobs will help cut the wait time by up to three weeks.
