

18 Serbian Youngsters Selected to Travel for Free in Europe With DiscoverEU
According to the Commission, on the latest round of applications, which closed at the end of March, a total of 762 Serbian youngsters filed an application.
However, since the number of granted free travel passes needs to be distributed equally based on the number of applications, only 18 of them were selected, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Among the countries whose youngsters got awarded a low number of free passes for this round are also North Macedonia, Iceland, and Cyprus. North Macedonia youngsters got awarded 18 free passes, Iceland youngster got awarded 50 free passes, and Cyprus youngster got awarded 72 free passes.
On the other hand, youngsters from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain were granted the highest number of free passes.
According to the data provided by the Commission, a total of 20,368 youngsters from Germany applied for the free passes in the most recent round, with 6,072 of them getting selected.
Moreover, 9,717 youngsters from France applied and 4,919 got selected, 8,356 youngsters from Italy applied and 4,341 got selected, 16,798 youngsters from Spain applied and 3,458 got selected.
Discover EU is a programme action of Erasmus+ which gives the chance to Europeans of the age of 18 from different backgrounds to discover Europe through educational experiences.
It also gives the opportunity to youngsters to learn more about other cultures, discover their European identity, and create new friendships.
“DiscoverEUis an action of the Erasmus+ programme. It gives 18-year-olds from all backgrounds the opportunity to travel across Europe, learn from other cultures, build new friendships with fellow Europeans, and explore their European identity,” the statement of the Commission reads.
Participants who have been selected will get to travel across Europe primarily by rail. They will get the chance to visit various towns and cities.
They will also be given a card that offers discounts on local transportation, accommodation, food, educational activities, cultural visits, and more.
As the Commission explains, the selected applicants from all participating countries in the Erasmus+ programme will get to travel for up to 30 days within a one-year period – between June 15, 2023, and September 2024.
Those wishing to participate in the programme can apply for the next round, the dates of which are yet to be announced.
In order to be eligible for the next application round, prospective applicants must not be older than 18. They must also accurately complete the application form and provide the correct information on their ID, passport, or legal residence card.
Moreover, applicants must also be citizens or legal residents of one of the EU Member States or citizens or legal residents of one of the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme.
