Czech Republic’s Tourism Marks a Significant Improvement in the First Quarter of This Year
Such figures show that there has been a marked about ten times increase in the number of visitors compared to the statistics of the same period last year, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
The data provided by CSO also shows that the number of tourists has started to increase, as a result of the abolishment of travel restrictions and other measures imposed by governments to halt the spread of the Coronavirus and its new strains.
In addition, the figures show that about a third of them were visitors from other countries, while the number of domestic guests accommodated in establishments was 1.9 million.
The number of overnight stays in accommodation establishments increased by 643.0 per cent, meaning that after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, accommodation services are slowly returning to normal.
The number of overnight stays of visitors in accommodation establishments reached 7.9 million nights in the first quarter of this year, marking a seven times increase compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the report shows that the number of overnight stays of residents was higher compared to the first quarter of 2019 figures, before the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.
“In this period, 2.8 million visitors arrived in collective accommodation establishments, which was ten times more compared to the previous year. In addition, the number of travellers from abroad increased sixteen times, and also the number of domestic guests accommodated significantly more than last year,” Director of the Trade, Transport, Services, Tourism, and Environmental Statistics Department of the CZSO, Marie Boušková, pointed out.
As of 2 million arrivals were accommodated in hotels, marking a significant increase. At the same time, arrivals in boarding houses accounted for a total of 17 per cent of the volume of the number of visitors, and the proportion of other accommodation establishments was 11 per cent of accommodated guests.
“The number of visitors in collective accommodation establishments significantly increased compared to the previous year; however, the comparison basis is low due to last year’s pandemic restrictions. Accommodation outputs in the first quarter by far have not reached the volumes from 2019, mainly guests from abroad are still missing,” Head of the Tourism and Environmental Statistics Unit of the CZSO, Pavel Van?ura, has said.
The highest number of international guests came from Germany, Slovakia, and Poland.
