

Iceland Increases Fees for Immigration Documents
According to the Immigration Office of Iceland, since December 30, 2022, the fees have increased for several documents, including resident permit cards and citizenship, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
In line with the new rules that Iceland now applies, all those applying for Icelandic citizenship will be required to pay €174 (ISK 27,000) instead of €161 (ISK 25,000). Moreover, the notification fee for Icelandic citizenship has also increased. The fee for this particular service rose from €80 (ISK 12,500) to €87 (ISK13,500).
Apart from increasing the fees for the two above-mentioned documents, the Immigration Office of Iceland announced that the fee for residence permits, residence permit renewals, and temporary residence permits has also changed.
Since December 30, 2022, all persons applying for residence permits, residence permit renewals, as well as temporary residence permits will be required to pay an amount of €310 (ISK 48,000) instead of the previous €290 (ISK 45,000).
Additionally, the Immigration Office has said that the fee for reissuing a residence permit card has increased from €48 (ISK 7,500) to €52 (ISK 8,000).
The fee for expedited processing of applications for residence permits issued based on employment as well as the fee for reissuing a residence permit for relatives of EEA/EFTA citizens who are third-country nationals has also increased.
According to the Icelandic Immigration Office, those who want expedited processing of their residence permit application which is based on employment will now have to pay €310 (ISK 48,000) instead of €290 (ISK 45,000).
As for relatives of EEA/EFTA citizens who are not citizens of the countries part of this area, the Immigration Office announced that they will have to pay €31 (ISK 4,800) instead of €29 (ISK 4,500) when applying for the reissuing of residence permit.
Data show that from January to October 2022, Iceland received a total of 7,480 applications for residence permits. During this period, the country made 6,846 decisions whereas 2,659 applications have remained unprocessed.
Regarding citizenship, the Immigration Office disclosed that from January to October 2022, Iceland received a total of 1,026 citizenship applications. Additionally, the same revealed that the authorities made 734 decisions on these applications and another 989 applications have remained unprocessed.
Apart from issuing residence permits and granting citizenship to nationals of other countries, Iceland also granted international protection to a high number of them. From January to November 2022, Iceland granted international protection to 3,87 applicants, with the majority of them being from Ukraine, Venezuela, and Palestine.
