Italy, Spain and France Are the Top Favourite European Destinations for Britons Traveling for Food
According to the study commissioned by Tesco Mobile, to launch its Roaming Food Truck, thus serving as inspiration from cuisines in worldwide countries, Greece and Portugal are other famous destinations for Britons, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Regarding local delicacies citizens of the UK have tasted while abroad, more than a quarter or 26 per cent have sampled octopus, while 14 per cent have trucked into frogs’ legs, while 4 per cent have munched on a grasshopper, based on a study in which participated 2,000 adults.
The survey has revealed that 23 per cent of respondents said that their bucket list consists of more food to try than locations to travel to.
It also revealed that nearly half of the respondents or 49 per cent like to eat in local independent restaurants when they are away while 21 per cent said that would seek out delectable street foods.
Still, 42 per cent admit they get nervous about visiting a state they do not know the cuisine.
“One thing that’s clear from our research is that, as a nation, we can get quite comfortable travelling to the same holiday destinations over and over again,” the chief customer officer for the brand, Rachel Swift, pointed out.
According to the Mirror report, Polish, Portuguese, as well as Scandinavian foods that Britons do not usually try at home, are among the most popular among travellers.
The survey also revealed that Britons are more likely to try local cuisines instead of seeking out foods familiar from home.
In addition, the research showed that over two-thirds put this down to having a more “authentic” travel experience while 37 per cent do so in order to get the freshest foods.
The survey revealed that the following 20 European cuisines are the most favourite ones for Britons:
- Italy
- Spain
- France
- Greece
- Portugal
- Germany
- Belgium
- Canary Islands
- Netherlands
- Switzerland
- Malta
- Austria
- Sweden
- Poland
- Republic of Cyprus
- Denmark
- Ireland (Republic of)
- Croatia
- Norway
- Jersey
Swift from Tesco Mobile, said that knowing what an important role food plays in holiday decisions, we are inviting everyone to visit the Roaming Food Truck thus they can roam with their stomachs before making detailed plans for their holidays.
