

Latvia’s Hotel Figures Increased Significantly in May, Statistics Show
Such conclusions have been reached through the recent data provided by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia,AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
The same source shows that guests spent a total of 296 thousand nights in the establishments, which means 2.1 times more compared to May 2021 figures.
According to the statistics provided by the Central Statistical Bureau, in the first five months of 2022, a total of 586.8 thousand non-residents and residents were welcomed in Latvia, or 2.3 times more compared to the first five months of last year and a total of 32.5 per cent more compared to the same period in 2020 figures.
Still, compared to the number of people welcomed over the five months of 2019, before the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants, the figures for five months of this year show that there has been noted a decrease of a total 36.6 per cent.
Latvia’s Central Statistical Bureau figures show that in May this year, non-residents accounted for a total of 53 per cent or 87.6 thousand guests welcomed in tourist accommodation establishments, marking a 6.4 per cent increase compared to May 2021 figures.
In addition, compared to May 2021 data, the number of nights spent by non-residents at establishments has marked a significant increase or 4.5 times more, according to a Public Broadcasting of Latvia report.
The majority of non-residents came from the following territories:
- Lithuania (12.6 thousand)
- Estonia (10.6 thousand)
- Germany (9.7 thousand)
- United Kingdom (6.8 thousand)
- Finland (4.1 thousand)
- USA (3.9 thousand)
- Poland (3.7 thousand)
Non-residents from the countries mentioned above who came to Latvia in May stayed in Riga (78.3 per cent), J?rmala (7.7 per cent), and Liep?ja (2.4 per cent).
During May this year, the number of residents welcomed at tourist accommodation establishments accounted for a total of 77.7 thousand, which means 32.4 per cent more compared to May 2021 figures.
Besides, the figures from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that the number of nights spent by residents at the establishments in May this year increased by 26.1 per cent compared to the same period last year’s figures.
Based on the same source, the majority of residents stayed in Riga (24.4 per cent), J?rmala (11.1 per cent), Liep?ja (6.7 per cent), C?sis municipality (6 per cent), Sigulda municipality (5.3 per cent), Kuld?ga municipality (3.5 per cent) and Daugavpils (3.4 per cent).
