In contrast, provinces such as Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Zeeland, and Limburg have fewer Indian residents.
Indian Immigration to the Netherlands Surged in 2022
Indian migration to the Netherlands has grown significantly since 2005, when annual arrivals were limited to about 1,000 people. Between 2005 and 2020, Indian immigration soared before being temporarily disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The highest migration figures were recorded in 2022, with net migration reaching nearly 11,000. However, migration has declined slightly in the following years, while emigration from the Netherlands has increased.
