Over 500k Passengers Have Reserved a Security Check Time Slot at Schiphol Airport Since March
According to Schiphol Airport, the possibility of being able to reserve a security check time slot in advance was welcomed by passengers, and the same revealed that the most popular time slot is about an hour and a half before departure, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
As the NL Times explains, the majority of time slots at the Schiphol airport were booked by those travelling to Barcelona and Alicante.
Moreover, it was noted that the Airport is happy to have put into use such a system that facilitates the travel process for all passengers.
Schiphol Airport made it possible for passengers to reserve a time slot for security check back in March.
Back then, the Airport said that the service was free of charge and that all those interested could reserve their slots up to three days before their departure on the airport’s official website or app.
By allowing passengers to reserve a time slot in advance, Schiphol Airport said that it wants to make the experience more convenient for everyone. The same stressed that all passengers can go through the checks in a separate lane, avoiding long waiting times.
The possibility of reserving a time slot for security checks at Schiphol Airport applies to everyone, including passengers on non-Schengen flights.
When reserving their time slots, passengers are required to provide details of their destination as well as the group size. Once this information is provided, the system automatically suggests a suitable time slot that corresponds to the departure time of the flight and the expectancy of crowds.
As Schiphol Airport explains, the time slots if valid for a period of 15 minutes. During this period, passengers must show the QR code that proves that they have reserved a time slot and undergo the security check process.
In cases when passengers arrive early, the Airport says that their slot will not be available, meaning that they will have to wait for their turn.
On the other hand, in cases when passengers arrive late, the Airport says that they will miss the opportunity to use their time slot and will have to wait in the regular line for security check instead.
