India who are residing in Andhra Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Do I have to apply in person?
The application should be submitted personally. Diplomatic missions do not accept application forms sent via fax, regular mail or e-mail.

Remember to apply for a visa two weeks before the planned departure.

A national visa applicant shall personally submit a document confirming the possession of Travel Medical Insurance, referred to in Article 25 (1) (2) (a) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners or a document confirming the possession of health insurance as per the definition of the Act of 27 August 2004 on Health care services financed from public funds. Travel medical insurance with an insurance amount of no less than EUR 30,000 must be valid for the period of the intended stay of the foreigner on the territory of the Republic of Poland cover all expenses that may occur during the stay in Poland due to the necessity of return travel for medical reasons, the need for urgent medical assistance, emergency hospital treatment or death, in which the insurer undertakes to cover the costs of healthcare services provided to the insured directly to the entity providing such benefits, based on a bill issued by this entity.

How much does it cost?
The fee for accepting and processing a national visa application is 7054 INR (consular fees).
The visa application fee is non-returnable, whatever the consul's decision.
What is the waiting time?
The decision on the visa issue is made within 14 working days from the payment date of the application fee. If the documents need to be examined in more detail, the consideration period may be extended to 30 and 60 days in case of student applications. In urgent and justified circumstances, the decision can be made in three working days.
How do you collect the documents?
At the Embassy's consular section in New Delhi: Monday-Friday, 3:00-4:00 pm.
At the Consulate General in Mumbai: Monday-Friday, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
How to appeal?
You may appeal against the consul’s decision within 14 days of collecting the passport. You must bring your passport, an appeal letter, and a refusal letter (original and copy) and pay a new visa fee.

D-Type national visa
A Poland-type D visa is a long-stay or national passport. This visa is given to individuals who want to study, work or reside in Poland. If you plan to stay in the Republic of Poland for over 90 days, you must apply for a long-stay visa.
A Type D national visa also allows you to travel in the territory of other Schengen countries for up to 90 days during 180 days.
The Type D visa is not the same as a residence permit. The long-stay visa allows you to enter Poland for work, studies, family reunions, etc. and is acquired at an embassy abroad. You must switch the long-stay key into a residence permit after entering Poland. Sometimes, you obtain a residence permit simultaneously with a long-stay access.
Who Needs a Type D Visa for Poland?
Citizens not from an EU/EEA country and wishing to stay in Poland to study or work must apply for a Poland Type D Visa. If you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country, you do not have to apply for a Type D Visa; however, you must register your stay at the local registration office for an extension of three months.

Poland Type D Visas
The Poland national type D visas are:
- Poland Work Visa. If you are from a non-EU/EEA country and want to work in Poland, you must apply for a Polish work visa. You must have an employer who will submit a request for a work permit on your behalf at the local Polish Voivodeship. There are different types of work permits depending on the duration and nature of your work, such as:
- Poland Student Visa. If you are from a non-EU/EEA country and have plans to study in Poland, you must apply for a Polish student visa. You must apply for a student residence permit to look for longer than one year. This visa application will require you to submit the school or university application, an acceptance letter, and an invitation letter. You will also be required to submit a document proving your English or Polish language proficiency level.
- Poland Family Visa. You must apply for a Polish family visa to join your spouse or parents in Poland. The family visa is valid for two years, and you can work in Poland during this time. You must provide proof of your family status, such as a marriage certificate (for spouses) or birth certificate (for biological children).
How to Apply for a Poland Type D Visa?
You must apply for a Polish long-stay D visa at the nearest Polish consulate or embassy. You must schedule an appointment and complete the application form through the E-Konsulat website. Then, you have to:
- Collect the required documents. You need a specific set of documents depending on the type of visa you are applying for. For example, for a work visa, you need a work contract.
- Apply in person at the Polish embassy or consulate. Please arrive at the embassy or consulate on time on the day of your appointment.
- Attend the visa interview. A long-stay visa is usually required to enter a visa interview, where the visa officer will ask you questions about your trip.
- Wait for the decision. You will usually hear back within two weeks.
Duration of a Poland D Visa
The Poland National Type D visa lasts up to 365 days; your stay must exceed 90 days. If you want to visit Poland for less than 90 days, apply for a Schengen visa. On the other hand, if you wish to stay for longer than 365 days, you must apply for a residence permit.
Switching From a Type D Visa to a Residence Permit in Poland
If you plan to stay in Poland for more than three months, you must apply for a temporary residence permit, which is issued for a maximum of three years. This temporary residence permit can be renewed. You may apply for a temporary residence permit at the nearest Polish Embassy or consulate. Suppose you are already in Poland with a national Type D visa. In that case, you can apply for a residence permit directly at the Polish regional office of the province you currently reside in.
Poland Residence Card
The residence card is a document that confirms your identity during your stay in Poland. This document allows you to cross the Polish border without having a visa and stay in other countries of the Schengen area for a period not exceeding 90 days. To get a residence card for Poland, you must first obtain a Poland residence permit.
You should receive your visa application answer within 60 days. If accepted, you will be equipped with a residence card.
