EU Awards 59 Young Kazakhs With Erasmus+ Scholarships to Study in Europe
Through a press release, the delegation stated that the group of 59 students increased the number of Kazakh students who have won scholarships from EMJMD to 335.
Congratulating the students, the EU ambassador in Kazakhstan, Kestutis Jankauskas, said that the Erasmus+ Program is one of the biggest and most appreciated achievements in Europe, adding that she feels happy that Kazakhstan can also benefit from it.
“The European Union pays significant attention to the development of the human capital, including education and health, and the youth, which is firmly enshrined in the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Kazakhstan. The EU has recently launched the regional DARYA (Dialogue and Actions for Resourceful Youth in Central Asia) program to support youth development. Exchanges of students strengthen people-to-people contacts and connectivity between EU and Kazakhstan,” she noted.
To date, 315 mobility projects have been initiated between Kazakhstan’s higher educational institutions (HEIs) and those in the EU, which provide grants to selected Kazakh universities to send over 1,500 of their students and staff to partner universities across Europe.
However, if the students gain a scholarship from a university that has one or more of these inter-institutional agreements, then they will be able to apply to spend part of the degree period of 3 to 12 months at the European university. As a result, this mobility is possible at the bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level.
Kazakh students coming to the EU can receive a monthly contribution for their expenses abroad from €800 to €900, depending on the cost of living in the host country, plus a travel contribution based on the distance from the sending to the host institution.
Recently, the EU has awarded ten full scholarships to Mongolian students to continue their studies in Europe within the Erasmus+ Program.
In this regard, the EU delegation in Mongolia has explained that all ten students will have the opportunity to start a master’s program of up to two years in at least two EU universities, earning a master’s degree at the end of their program.
