

Iceland’s Keflavik Airport Cancels Tens of Flights Scheduled for Today Due to Extreme Weather Conditions
According to data provided by the airport, a total of 52 flights out of 70 that were scheduled to arrive today at the Keflavik Airport have been cancelled. Data also show that a total of 63 departures from Keflavik Airport scheduled for today have also been cancelled, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
As for tomorrow, the website says that the majority of arrivals and departures from Keflavik Airport will be on time. However, depending on the weather conditions, additional flights might be cancelled, and thus everyone has been advised to stay updated with the most recent information.
As soon as the Keflavik Airport saw that the extreme conditions might affect arrivals and departures, the airport came out with an official statement saying that flights to and from the airport might be cancelled from today, December 19 until December 20, and advised everyone to check for flight times and keep in touch with their airlines.
“Flights to and from Keflavik Airport might be affected by bad weather from Monday, December 19 till Tuesday, December 20. Passengers are advised to check for flight times at the Keflavik Airport website,” Keflavik Airport wrote on its official Twitter account yesterday, advicing passengers to contact the airlines for more detailed information on their flights.
Keflavik Airport, which is also known as Reykjavík–Keflavík Airport, is the largest airport in Iceland. The airport registers a high number of arrivals and departures each month.
Data provided by ISAVIA show that a total of 41,721 passengers passed through the airport in November 2022, and the same pointed out that Copenhagen, London, Manchester, Paris, and Boston were the most popular destinations.
“441,721 passengers made their way through Keflavík Airport in November 2022, according to preliminary figures. Multiple airlines, both Icelandic and international, flew to 65 different destinations with Copenhagen, London, Manchester, Paris and Boston being the most popular,” the statement of ISAVIA reads.
In addition to the above-mentioned, it has been revealed that over half of the departures at Keflavik Airport in November 2022 were due to nationals of the United States and the United Kingdom. Nationals of the US and UK were followed by those of Germany, France, Poland, Denmark, Spain, Canada, and China.
As for departures of nationals of Iceland, it has been explained that they were around 34,000 in November 2022, reaching 96 per cent of the figures registered in November 2019, before the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
