Norway Expands List of Categories that Can Enter the Country
The Norwegian authorities have decided to add several other categories to the list of persons eligible to enter Norway amid the Coronavirus pandemic, as the number of infections continuously drops.
Amid the relaxing of several other measures as the situation improves, Norway’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security has decided that more EEA citizens can come to the country, as well as several other groups of foreigners who can normally enter Norway can now return.
According to a press release of this Ministry, the changes permit seasonal workers who are going to work in agriculture or the green industry to enter Norway.
“I am pleased to announce that we have now adopted further softening of the expulsion regulations, which are important for agriculture and for families living in different countries within the EEA,” Minister of Justice Monica Mæland said regarding the decision.
She, however, points out that everyone must be aware that there may be a few practical obstacles tas travel restrictions, that will make it difficult for some seasonal workers to travel to Norway.
“The Norwegian authorities are working to facilitate the smoothest possible process. However, not all conditions are controlled, such as air traffic, and internal travel restrictions in the countries concerned,” she says.
Once the decision is effective, family members of the EEA citizens and family members of Norwegian citizens will be eligible to travel to Norway, as well as EEA citizens of that own real estate in Norway, as a second home or holiday home, to visit their property.
Family members of EEA citizens include:
- spouse,
- cohabitant,
- fiancé,
- children who are under the age of 21 or who are supported by the EEA citizen,
- parents who are supported by the EEA citizen
Everyone that wants to enter Norway will have to stay in quarantine for two weeks according to the rules.
