

Poland Introduces New Quarantine Rules
Poland’s government has decided to put an end to the compulsory quarantine, from May 16, which has been imposed as an effort to stop the further spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to a statement published by the Headquarters of the Border Guard, “From May 16 this year, there is no compulsory quarantine after crossing the border of the Republic of Poland constituting an internal border for professional, business or economic purposes in Poland or an EU and EEA state and for receiving education of the Republic of Poland or a neighbouring country, including for guardians of pupils and children,”
Internationals coming from abroad will be subject to a mandatory two weeks home quarantine. During border controls, travellers are required to provide the address where it will be carried out.
Exempted from the quarantine after crossing Poland’s border will be aircraft crews, sailors, fishermen and other crew members of sea and inland waterway vessels, as well as ship servicemen and inspectors of recognized organizations.
Below you can find other exceptional cases from the quarantine;
- persons performing works related to the preparation or implementation of investments in the terminal in Poland or a neighbouring country within the meaning of the Act on investments in the field of a liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście, strategic investments in the field of transmission networks within the meaning of the Act on the preparation and implementation of strategic investments in the field of network transmission or strategic investments in the oil sector within the meaning of the Act on the preparation and implementation of strategic investments in the oil sector.
- drivers performing road transport as part of international road transport or combined international transport within the meaning of the provisions of the Road Transport Act,
- train crews and other employees necessary to carry out freight transport services under international rail transport, performing professional activities in Poland or a neighbouring country, based on a list provided by the carrier,
- drivers performing road transport of motor vehicles or combinations of vehicles with a maximum permissible weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes in road transport of goods and non-profit road transport of goods,
- drivers performing road transport with vehicles intended for the transport of more than seven and not more than nine persons, including the driver in commercial international road transport of persons;
- persons crossing the border of the Republic of Poland constituting an internal border to perform professional, business or paid activities in Poland or an EU or EEA country,
- pupils and students crossing the border of the Republic of Poland constituting an internal border to receive education in Poland or a neighbouring country and their guardians who cross the border with students to enable this learning,
- children covered by pre-school education in Poland or a neighbouring country and their guardians who cross the border with their children to include them in this education,
- persons crossing the border to work on a farm that is on both sides of the border,
- soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland or soldiers of allied forces, officers of the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service, performing official tasks,
- members of diplomatic missions, consular posts and representatives of international organizations and members of their families, as well as by other persons crossing the border based on a diplomatic passport.
Earlier this month, Poland’s government announced that it has decided to exempt from the mandatory quarantine citizens who cross the Polish border for professional, business, economic or educational purposes, in Poland or neighbouring countries.
Poland also decided to extend border checks with Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, until June 12, due to Coronavirus developments, the Ministry of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kaminski announced this week.
